It has been a nice day. Cynthia Oliver announced that "Interpretations of Self " Self Portrait Project 2008, an online exhibition, was ready for public viewing. It may be seen at:

Then tonight at our Artists' League meeting for the Florida State University Museum, we had a guest speaker who explained how to do panoramic installations. It was fascinating to watch the process of photographing in 10 degree segments and then to "stitch and blend" the photographs so that you could go around the room creating a panoramic view of the entire room or rotating a 3 dimensional piece of art so that it "turned" for viewing.

Now, all I have to do is buy the software and learn how to use it ---- Right!

It is suppose to rain later this week. We had another lovely day today - looked like we might get some showers, but it didn't happen.

Is Spring finally here?!

Well, it has been an absolutely gorgeous day!
Wow, I love it when it is like this. It will be 80 degrees again tomorrow. We are lucky to have such beautiful weather.

Chuck made some delicious soup for us tonight. I am lucky to have a husband who is such a good cook! He enjoys cooking and is quite talented.

He also does nice glasswork and will have some pieces in the "Climate Summit" which will be held at the Civic Center tomorrow. He made some nice and unusual platters from recycled glass.

I completed a few paintings this week and have a good start on several others. Time is flying by! Chuck will be making the metal backs for them. We bought the supplies last week. We have to get ready for Chain of Parks in April and then other shows throughout the Summer and Fall. Please visit my website http://www.terriecorbettglass.com/ to see the scheduling.

Well, I am working on a baby afghan for some friends of ours who are expecting, so I'd better work on it a little bit. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Remembering

I want to take a moment to remember a good friend of ours. His name was Joe. He passed away last Friday. I sent a note to his sister and Mother which said, "Sometimes, if we are lucky, someone comes into our life that will forever occupy a special place. Joe was such a man. He was one-of-a-kind. His quick wit, boisterous laugh, the twinkle in his eyes when he was up to mischief, and his boyish charm can never be replaced. He was a good and true friend - brutally honest when necessary, but with a tender heart and a generous spirit not easily matched. His friends knew of the love he had for his family - and he loved all of God's creatures but especially his dogs. Let us take comfort as we remember the unique and special relationship we had with him. While the mention of his name may bring tears to our eyes, memories of him will bring a smile to our heart. "

We will miss you, old friend.

Well, today (actually yesterday, as it is now after midnight and early Thursday morning) was indeed a beautiful one! The weather was so nice. It did start out a little shaky, however!

I was suppose to attend a Tai Chi class with a friend of mine. For starters, I had a headache, then I lost my purse so I didn't have my drivers license and of course I didn't want to drive without it! By then I was going to be late for class. My Mom came by to help me look for my purse (what a Mom, huh)! anyway, I finally found it, was late for class, but had fun anyway!

We ordered another kiln from Jen Ken last week and I am excited! The electrician is coming by tomorrow to install a new plug. The kiln should be ready in about 4 weeks.

We went to Cocoa last Thursday night and bought glass at Art Glass House on Friday. I love to go there to buy glass products. We stayed at Cocoa Beach on Friday night and went to our favorite restaurant down there! Nice little business trip!

The new cats, 'Bump' and 'Purrble' are continuing to be fun - some of my older cats are not quite as enthusiastic, but they are adjusting.
They are mischievous as you can discern from the photo below! That is 'Purrble'

Busy, Busy Time

Wow! Time is flying by! I am finally able to make a dent in some of the work that is due, however, I still have miles to go! Two exhibition/projects in April, one in May, two exhibitions in June and two in August! That should keep me in the studio for the Spring and Summer! Its all good, however. I'm glad to be participating in each event. I will post here and on my website the dates and titles for each exhibition.

Well, we have two new cats, both are rescues. They are entirely different in appearance and personality. "Bump" is a yellow and white four year-old fellow with a wonderfully mellow disposition. Well, he is more mellow now than initially . . . . he was something of a bully toward the other cats when he arrived on the scene. He does have a great personality and is a lot of fun. " Purrble" is a little long-haired black female about 10 months old. She arrived on my birthday in the pouring rain! She was a little sad sack to look at. She has a really cute and funny personality also. She does tend to be a little fearful of my other cats. (we have four older cats plus Bump and Purrble). Anyway, we have had both altered and they are happily ensconced in the Corbett household! Purrble is very playful and we have had one bad art accident. She knocked over a large ceramic sculpture of a cat! I was sick. I have several pieces by the artist. I had placed it on the hearth of the fireplace, so it really is my fault. They are good for the most part, and I will be more careful from now on. It is a little more hazardous since we have tile floors instead of carpeting.

It is raining today. We are suppose to have storms later on in the evening. I have an Artists League meeting at the museum, so I hope it doesn't get too bad. Speaking of that, I'd better sign off for now.

Yesterday I finally worked in the studio for a while! Okay, so mostly it was clean-up, but hey, after having the flu all this time, it was just fine. Sure I could hardly get out of the bed this morning, but it was kind of nice to sleep in while it was raining! (It rained all night with some bad thunderstorms in the area. A twister touched down west of here. No injuries thank goodness).

Today was beautiful! It was warm, sunny, and very pleasant. Tonight it is freezing again!

I have an appointment tomorrow and then I will paint all afternoon. Hopefully, I will make some headway. I have a tendency to over-commit, however, if you want to paint and you want to exhibit, you have to keep those doors open, right!?
Well, I need to go and do a little reading before bed. Have a nice Tuesday, Everyone!

Wow, can it be the middle of February already! Unbelieveable!

I have been remiss in my blogging. As you may know, my website went online at the end of last year and I spent some time learning how to find my way around the site and update information. As a reminder my website address is http://www.terriecorbettglass.com/
I will update activities and events so do stop by!

At the beginning of the year, I felt that things were relatively quiet. I was in the bed with the flu for several weeks, felt better for two days and then relapsed! Not fun. I am finally 'getting back down to the planet earth' and feel better. I have missed valuable studio time and I need to get back in the swing of things. The year is mapped out pretty evenly with exhibitions. Right now I am in the Synergy Invitational at the Claude Pepper Museum. In March, I plan to participate in a Self Portraits, an online exhibit which originated through the Warm Glass website. Cynthia Oliver is heading up that project as she did last year. In January, I submitted a proposal for the Pillars Project - It was accepted and I will have more information on that later. In April, I will participate in Chain of Parks, the nationally juried exhibition for the LeMoyne Center for Visual Arts. Then, In May we go to North Carolina for our nephew's wedding. In June I will participate, as a member of the Artists' League, in an exhibition at the Florida State Museum of Fine Arts. Then in August, I will be one of the Featured Artists at Kittrell/Riffkind in Dallas, Texas. That month, I will also have work in an exhibit called Soul Mates: a study in Relationships at LeMoyne here in Tallahassee. I have one more exhibition in June that is not yet finalized. More on that later.

My husband fixed a wonderful dinner for my Mom and me on Valentine's Day! He also brought us flowers. He's always so thoughtful. I am happy to say that his wedding ring was returned. He lost it at our local Publix. Someone found it and turned it in. Wasn't that nice!
